Intergenerational Classes

Available in some locations, these truly wonderful classes are held within a Residential Care Home for the elderly and really do bring the community together.  This kind of setting is mutually beneficial for little ones, parents, residents and Care Home Staff, as everyone joins in. Many children no longer live near elderly relatives, so the bonds made during a class offer an ‘extended family’

“Many residents don’t get regular visitors, especially children; they love to see them and in many of my regular homes, residents get up early on the day of the Caterpillar Music session so they can ‘get a good seat’.

Watching residents light up when handed a puppet by a toddler is magical. Music is hugely powerful and remains in the long-term memory.  I have witnessed residents who rarely speak, sing every word to our nursery rhymes, reliving happy memories.

Children love to chat, sing, dance and share their knowledge…residents love to watch and listen; it is a win-win situation”.
