The heatwave is on it’s way and to make sure your little ones are kept as happy and comfortable as possible, we have put together some top tips on how to manage the upcoming temperatures.
-
Try and keep your baby out of the direct sunlight particularly during the hottest part of the day.
-
Use a parasol on your travel system if you have one, if not a sunshade or sunhat.
-
Keep baby hydrated, cooled boiled water is best.
-
Keep curtains and blinds closed but windows open during the day to help maintain a comfortable room temperature.
-
Cool bath before bed may help with settling.
-
Avoid swaddling your baby, a cotton sheet or lightweight blanket is best as they can be kicked off more easily if they get hot.
-
Let your baby sleep in just their nappy.
-
Use a high factor sun cream, at least factor 50.
-
Avoid covering your buggy. Blankets, scarves and muslins etc can stop air circulating and make it even hotter for your baby.
-
Heat rises so it may be a good idea to sleep downstairs where possible as this should be the coolest part of the house.
