What happens at a Caterpillar Music Intergenerational class?

It’s the same format as our usual classes! We follow a clear routine to aid confidence & provide reassurance. There’s our usual mix of puppets, instruments, bubbles & props within a specific theme. It’s a relaxed environment aimed at bringing musical fun to babies, toddlers, parents & older people alike.

What are the benefits of an intergenerational class?

They can be beneficial to children, their parents or carers & the care home residents. Benefits include
🐛 building confidence
🐛 challenging assumptions & prejudices
🐛 helping to tackle loneliness for residents & mothers (or fathers!)
🐛 building connections between generations

In addition, for children it can aid in the development by
🐛 helping them to understand the world and their place in it, including aging
🐛 improving their social development as they build connections in a wider environment, which may be particularly beneficial if a child doesn’t have any grandparents living close by.

Also, in simple terms, it just feels good to do good! Come & spend 40 minutes with the care home residents whilst also enjoying the fun of Caterpillar Music and you’ll leave with a sense of having done something good. This is the first time we’ve been able to come back to Pemberley House since Covid forced isolation and it’s going to be great to build those relationships up again!

Due to the limited space of the social room, I can only take a restricted number of families for the class. Here are the details….

These classes take place once per month, at Pemberley House Care Home in Basingstoke, starting Monday 10th July at 1.30pm and can be booked here.

As always, a sibling is free.
